  • Director of Operations

    Position Summary

    The Director of Operations for the Meredith Centre is accountable for the day-to-day running of the community centre building and grounds, arena, reception, recreation programming, and facility rentals ensuring the centre is safe, well-maintained, financially sound, and delivers a strong experience for the public.

    Responsibilities and Key Deliverables

    • Manage facility staff day to day: hiring, scheduling, training, and performance.

    • Perform and/or coordinate building maintenance and basic repairs (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, general fixes), escalating to licensed contractors as needed.

    • Maintain arena equipment and infrastructure - Zamboni troubleshooting and upkeep, nets/boards repair, ice surface equipment; avoiding any disruption to bookings.

    • Keep rentals, recreation, and arena programs running smoothly, with staffing that meets customer needs and reflects strong community impact.

    • Manage and grow bookings (ice, halls, meeting/camp spaces): issue contracts, collect payments, prepare spaces ahead of each booking, and keep idle time to a minimum.

    • Drive growth in bookings, memberships, and on-ice programs (Learn to Skate, hockey, camps) by identifying new rental and program opportunities.

    • Oversee front desk reception and customer service, ensuring a strong, consistent experience and resolving issues as they arise.

    • Develop and manage the annual operations budget; report variances to the CEO and prepare Board reports as needed.

    • Act as primary point of contact between municipal staff, CEO, foundation board, and the operations team/clients.

    • Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations, insurance requirements, and municipal bylaws.

  • Welcome Desk Customer Service Representative

    Job Summary (Overall Responsibilities):

    We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Welcome Desk Customer Service Representative at the Centre Meredith. As the first point of contact for our valued clients, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional service to ensure a positive experience for everyone who walks through our doors.

    Key Responsibilities & Duties:

    • Greet and Welcome: As clients and members enter the facility, you will be responsible for greeting them with a warm smile and making them feel welcome.

    • Answering Questions: Respond to inquiries and concerns from clients, providing them with accurate information and assistance as needed.

    • Membership Sales: Engage with potential new members, promoting our programs and services, and facilitating the membership sign-up process.

    • Program Knowledge: Maintain a comprehensive understanding of all the programs and classes offered at the Centre, enabling you to guide clients effectively.

    • Registration: Assist clients and members with program and service registrations, ensuring a smooth and efficient process.

    • Translation: Utilize your bilingual skills in French and English to assist with translating documents when necessary.

    • Record Keeping: File forms and maintain accurate records using our designated system.

    • Phone and Email Communication: Handle incoming phone calls and respond to emails promptly and professionally.

    • POS and Cash Management: Responsible for balancing shift Point of Sale (POS) transactions and cash-outs.

    • Shift Reports: Complete end-of-shift reports and submit them to the supervisor via email.

    • Clean and Safe Environment: Contribute to maintaining a clean and safe working environment for staff and clients.

    Skills:

    • A high school diploma or higher is required.

    • Proficiency in the French language, both spoken and written, is mandatory, and proficiency in English is an asset.

    • Communication Skills: Possess excellent interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written.

    • Customer Service Experience: Minimum of 1 year of customer service experience is preferred.

    • Multi-tasking Abilities: Comfortable handling multiple situations simultaneously and being versatile in your approach.

    • Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail to ensure accuracy in all tasks and interactions.

    • Love for Public Communication: Enjoy communicating and connecting with the public, creating a welcoming and friendly atmosphere.

    • Proactive: Take initiative and be proactive in identifying and resolving potential issues for our clients.

    • Team Player: Capable of working both independently and collaboratively in group settings.

    • Computer Proficiency: Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel programs is necessary.

    • Amilia Software: Experience using the Amilia software system would be considered an asset.

    Work Hours:

    • Must be available to work a variety of weekday and weekend shifts, including mornings, afternoons, and evenings. 

    Transportation:

    • Personal vehicle required, no public transportation available.

  • Welcome Desk Supervisor

    Position Summary

    The Welcome Desk Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations of the Welcome Desk and acts as the head of customer service for the Meredith Centre. This role leads a dynamic front-desk team, ensures a consistently great experience for members and visitors, and supports the Centre administratively across customer service, rentals, and facility needs.

    Responsibilities and Key Deliverables

    • Oversee the daily operations of the Welcome Desk, ensuring consistent, high-quality service for members, participants, and visitors.

    • Act as the head of customer service, setting the standard for how the team engages with members and guests.

    • Lead, motivate, and schedule the Welcome Desk team with enthusiasm, fostering a positive and dynamic team environment.

    • Build and manage staff schedules, ensuring the Welcome Desk is fully covered during all operating hours.

    • When scheduled staff are unavailable, help arrange coverage and be available on call, including personally covering desk shifts as needed.

    • Prepare daily deposits and assist with financial reconciliations in coordination with the finance team.

    • Oversee rental inquiries, bookings, and event coordination to ensure a great customer experience from first contact through to the event itself.

    • Support the recruitment, training, and onboarding of Welcome Desk staff.

    • Handle escalated customer concerns with professionalism, care, and sound judgment.

    • Collaborate with other departments and program staff to support smooth day-to-day Centre operations.

    • Perform other administrative tasks related to Centre operations, the Welcome Desk, and rentals as needed.
